OUTCOMES FOR STAFF: - Basic but clear understanding of what a diagnosis of autism means - Understanding of how the core difficulties associated with autism may present in pupils - Understanding the key elements of good support for pupils with autism - Strategies/approaches to use in everyday situations
COURSE OUTLINE: This course gives a good basic understanding of autism and the difficulties it causes for pupils that we work with. It will explore the core difficulties associated with a diagnosis of autism and explain how this may present in an educational setting. Time will also be spent examining the key elements of effective autism support and practice, and introducing some of the specific strategies and interventions available.
